Mentoring program for female scientists

Our mentoring program for female scientists is designed to empower and support women in the field of science, providing guidance and resources to help them succeed. This program connects aspiring female scientists with experienced mentors who offer personalized advice, share their expertise, and help navigate career challenges.

Women in science often face unique challenges, including gender bias and a lack of representation. Our program aims to address these issues by fostering a supportive community. Mentorship helps build self-assurance, encouraging women to pursue leadership roles and innovative research opportunities. Participants gain access to a broad network of professionals, opening doors to collaborations, funding, and career advancements.

Since diverse perspectives lead to more creative and effective scientific solutions, we want to contribute to a richer, more inclusive research environment by supporting women in science. Our program is committed to nurturing the next generation of female leaders in science, helping them achieve their full potential and make meaningful contributions to their fields.

We will implement several new measures to increase the number of outstanding female physicists, which will go beyond the common methods used to make STEM subjects more attractive to female students. One of those measures is our mentoring program, which has a dedicated budget from our coordination project.

The program is aimed at female scientists at the PhD and postdoctoral levels within COMB.AT. By leveraging our vast network of accomplished female physicists, the SFB will recruit established professors as mentors for our younger female colleagues. To encourage networking and enhance their influence as role models, we will invite these successful scientists to participate in the SFB Symposium and/or the SFB Colloquium as speakers and role models.
